About Us

Diplomat Television is a development and production company founded by industry veterans Keith and Dawn Thompson. Based in London, UK and Marbella, Spain it develops and produces high quality television drama for worldwide markets. Diplomat Television was spun out of Diplomat Films in 2014, and has an uncompromising reputation for quality. With over 25 years experience in major drama productions, broadcasters have described working with Diplomat as a "risk free relationship," and "the guarantee of a first rate production."

Controlling budgets of over $60 million, shooting in locations as diverse as Budapest, Prague, Ireland, and the British Virgin Islands, followed by worldwide distribution, Diplomat Television has the credentials to deliver creatively, technically and financially.

Keith Thompson

Keith has a long career in film and television, starting as Production Manager for Granada Television, quickly moving into producer roles and culminating in becoming Head of Drama Production in 1989. With Dawn and writer Alan Bleasdale, he founded Diplomat Films and went on to produce many acclaimed film and TV series. His complete filmography is shown below.

Dawn Thompson has managed all Diplomat Television's productions and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the company.

Dawn has worked as Advisor to Alan Bleasdale and currently oversees  Diplomat Television's development slate.

Television and Radio Industry Club Award for Best Drama Series, nominations for South Bank Show Award and FIPA Award for Television Drama, and the Royal Television Society Best Drama Series Award . Marc Warren received Royal Television Society Award for Best Actor for his role as Monks.
